Policies matter. Practice matters more.

Review what actually happens across workplace and supply-chain operations.

Review what actually happens across workplace and supply-chain operations. The most useful preparation starts with the organisation's own scope, processes and obligations. The considerations below are intended as practical guidance, rather than an exhaustive interpretation of a standard or a quotation.

Start with the relevant code

Clarify which customer Code of Conduct, audit programme, legal obligation or social compliance framework applies. Requirements differ by programme and industry.

Examine operational reality

Depending on scope, reviews may consider working hours, wages and benefits, occupational health and safety, labour practices, grievance arrangements, environmental responsibilities and business ethics.

Use multiple forms of evidence

Written policies matter, but evidence can also include records, observations, worker interviews, management discussions and follow-up actions.

Correct systemic causes

When a concern is identified, evaluate underlying process weaknesses, assign responsibility and verify improvement. Repeated findings may indicate that controls are not operating effectively.

Clarify the auditor’s role

SA Solution provides social compliance and Code of Conduct auditing support based on client requirements. Any programme-specific approval, certification or recognition belongs to the relevant independent scheme or decision-maker.

Important distinction: Consultancy, internal auditing and training support should not be confused with independent accredited certification or programme approval.
